TWO MORE DISTRICT COORDINATION GROUP FOR LIFELONG LEARNING WERE CREATED IN PAZARDZHIK AND BURGAS

On 22 and 24 June 2016 were created regional coordination groups for lifelong learning in Pazardzhik and Burgas. Within the implementation of the work program of the National Coordinator for Adult Learning 2016 the establishment of the regional coordination mechanisms took place on specially organized roundtables with the participation of stakeholders from the respective areas

The roundtable in Pazardzhik was moderated by Ms. Valentina Kaytazova, chief of the Regional Inspectorate of Education and Chairman of the regional coordination group for lifelong learning, while the event in – by Mrs. Sevdalina Turmanova, deputy governor of Burgas and chairman of the regional coordination group for lifelong learning

The round table in Bourgas was opened by Mr. Valtcho Cholakov – Governor of Burgas. He emphasized the key role of adult learning in the economic development of the region and the need for it to be supported by concrete action incl. through regional policies in this sector. Mrs. Violeta Ilieva, head of the Bourgas Regional Inspectorate of Education, outlined some problems related to progress in the regional sector for adult learning on which should be focused the attention of the members of the Regional Coordination Group, established in Bourgas region.

In the creation of both regional coordination groups participated Mrs. Valentina Deikova – National Coordinator for Adult Learning and Head of Project № 3761-EPP-1-2015-1-BG-EPPKA3-AL-AGENDA – “National coordinators in the implementation of European agenda for Adult learning “, accompanied by representatives of the project team.

The roundtables held in Pazardzhik and Burgas, formed the first new institutional and organizational environment for interaction among stakeholders at regional governance level in the sector of adult learning. The formation of groups reaffirmed the important mutual dependence between the established new coordination mechanisms during the period from 2012 to 2015 and in particular the National Coordination Group for Lifelong Learning, the National Network for Adult Learning, incl. strengthening the role of regional coordinators for adult learning.

Especially interesting was the data on the sector for adult learning by 2015, in particular those related to the state of regional sectors of adult learning in Pazardzhik and Burgas. They became the basis for conducting meaningful discussions on key issues related to the development of the sector of adult learning at national and district government level. While during the event held in Pazardzhik, were discussed some of the barriers to adult learners related to their access to the labour market and weaknesses in the regulatory framework in the field of social policy, itn Burgas were identified complex and priority issues related to the key role of employers’ organizations in the sector of adult learning, the relationship between school education and higher education and others.

All the participants in both events reached the common understanding that the unification of stakeholders at regional governance level may become a powerful engine of increasing the participation of older people from different target groups in a variety of activities for lifelong learning.
